Silvanas started with nostalgia—a longing for home during a time when the world had come to a halt.
In the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, all flights were cancelled, including our much-anticipated holiday to the Philippines. Missing home deeply, we spent those three weeks in our kitchen making silvanas—a beloved treat from Dumaguete, Hope’s hometown and the home of the famous Sans Rival and silvanas.
At first, we made them simply for ourselves and shared a few with friends. Their wonderful response encouraged us to take an unexpected leap. We were hesitant—we are nurses, not professional bakers—but we followed our passion and decided to start selling our creations. The rest, as they say, is history.
Our small business grew through the kindness of friends and the support of people who had never met us but enjoyed our products enough to spread the word. Every recommendation, order and encouraging message has helped us reach more people than we ever imagined.
Since then, we have expanded our menu to include Sans Rival—the cake version of silvanas—as well as sponge cakes and cupcakes. We are taking our journey one step at a time, thoughtfully creating each product while dreaming of adding even more in the future.
We may not be professionally trained bakers, but we are nurses with a genuine passion for baking, creating and bringing joy to others. We have always loved art, and we are deeply grateful that we can now express that love through every dessert we make.
From a taste of home during uncertain times to the growing business we have today, every creation carries a little piece of our story—and we are so happy to share it with you.
